I will not apologize for dropping this atom bomb comprised of 62 slides on you from Greg Lauren's S/S 16 show because you are about to go on a fucking journey. Walk with me, fam. To be totally real, this was absolutely incredible. There were multiple members of the Lauren family in the building sitting directly across from us. Greg's wife, the actress Elizabeth Berkley, was there and audibly cheered during the finale. Gigantic mountains of men walked down the runway modeling elaborate, hand-stitched and designed pieces of truly modern art, sometimes individually, sometimes in a crew of two or more. You could try your hardest to get a good look at all the intricate details on the pieces, but there were so many you inevitably couldn't do it. From the white-out kits that opened the show to the somewhat formal and more elegant darker styles at the end, there was as much to take in as there was to like. Zippers and snaps found their way onto so many pairs of pants that I lost count. There was a straight up half blazer, half leather moto jacket piece for when you have a charity dinner at 7 and a ride on your Harley at 8 and denim overalls spliced with wool, chalk striped trousers. And then there were the ponchos. THOSE GODDAMN MOTHERFUCKING EARTH-SHATTERING PONCHOS. Easily, one of the true highlights so far this week.
