In the every evolving mashup of the world, how do we make sense of streetwear's love of high-fashion, high-fashion's love of streetwear and the increasingly rare hemlines that result? Label it what you will—even perhaps go on and write a missive about the relevance of logos—ultimately you'll find that across the globe folks are happily playing with drape, fit, fabric and wild ass graphics. This is good.

Portland, Oregon is best known for its ruthlessly local mentality and celebration of small-batch everything. However, some people in PDX have a global view. Justin Machus opened his eponymous menswear store on November 11, 2011. Two years later, Machus has launched his own private label brand to sit on shelves next to Damir Doma, Isaora, Robert Geller and a host of others. The garments are essentially elongated basics with split hems and a palatable pricepoint ($89 for a T-shirt). Even a few fragrances and leather accessories fill out the offering.

The most ambitious product is an all-black, handmade baseball jersey. It's got a heavy, neoprene-like hand and would work well if worn in Kris Kross-like style over a hooded sweatshirt. And that is exactly how it should be rocked—complete with black Timbs and the contemporary version of baggy (read: only slightly loose) jeans. Or, maybe, just however you want—your own beautifully fucked up balance of street, fashion, local, global, hip-hop, arty, etc. The non-sports jersey is one of the best trends of 2013 (according to guys like Jian DeLeon at least), so make sure to capitalize before the ball drops.
