No Surprises Here, Dolce & Gabbana Are Blowing It

None

We're not the culture police or anything, out here trying to tell people how to live their lives. But the debacle surrounding Dolce & Gabbana the past few days has been palpable. If you are not caught up with the happenings, in an interview with Italian magazine Panorama, translated here by The New Civil Rights Movement, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana gave more than their two cents about gay people raising children. A couple of standout quotes:

"I call children of chemistry, synthetic children. Uteri [for] rent, semen chosen from a catalog."

"The only family is the traditional one. No chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed."

Um, what the fuck is going on? If you're not aware, both Dolce and Gabbana are gay and former lovers. And yet, they're clearly vehemently opposed to not only gay marriage, but even couples who use "chemical" means like fertility clinics to get pregnant. They believe that the family is a chemical relationship, or some equally wild flagrant shit like that. D&G even dedicated their most recent collection to the traditional family, putting mothers on full display with their babies. Are we sure that these dudes aren't deep into Scientology? It sounds like their Thetan levels need checking. I'm just waiting for them to unzip their human disguises and reveal that they're actually some weird race of extraterrestrials. Meanwhile, Elton John has already led a successful boycott of the brand and has a bunch of people on board. It'll be interesting to see if we ever hear of celebrities wearing Dolce & Gabbana at events again because it looks like these dudes just fucking BLEW IT, which they've been known to do on quite a few occasions.
