Over the past half dozen seasons or so, we’ve watched as the Gant Rugger aesthetic has steadily morphed from something very American into a more international fixture. When I think of the way that Lord Bastin progressively incorporated different cultural references into Rugger, I think of the re-release of a beloved vintage sports car. Sure, all the shit you know and love is still there, but it’s been repackaged in a way that makes you de novo excited, like you’re seeing it for the very first time.

With Rugger now in the hands of her Nordic Majesty Fiffi Hallstensson (who cut her teeth designing the Pre-Spring 14 collection) the S/S 14 drop, entitled #STONYC, looks to continue the brand’s creative approach of blending sportswear with traditional basics. Sure, all the Rugger favorites loom large—flat fronted trou and slim fitting sportcoats—but cool Swedish vibes are injected courtesy of numerous geometric printed hoodies and ribbed baseball knits. Oh, that washed out suede bomber? That’s on some raw shit genius.
