BREAKING: Gucci Appoints Alessandro Michele As New Creative Director
Well guys, all the sweet rumor mongering is finally over. The speculation behind who would be taking over the creative director post at Gucci is officially dunzo. The brand has decided to appoint Alessandro Michele, the previous head accessories designer and the guy who actually redesigned the entire F/W 15 menswear line in under a week before its runway show on Monday. While I wasn’t exactly a fan of the silky blouses with neck ties around them, the collection was well-received by members of the press and the move seems to be a fairly agreeable appointment.
So, let us take the time to say that even though we had it on good word from a notable fashion insider that Riccardo Tisci would leave Givenchy to take over at Gucci, or that maybe—JUST MAYBE—Tom Ford might make a big time comeback to the brand he previously led for a decade, we were wrong. Though, let’s all admit that it probably would have been a lot more fun just to see how things would have shaken out around the fashion universe.
