The Judgement Of Terry Richardson

Terry Richardson, a name that is pretty much synonymous with general creepiness and sexual assault at this point, just got profiled over at The Cut. As you'd probably expect, the article serves to paint if not a sympathetic, at least a more gentle picture (no pun intended) of Richardson—to cast him not as a sexual deviant and borderline rapist, but as your typically misunderstood artist with a severely troubled past. Whether or not you want to believe his side of the story is up to you, but the piece does raise several interesting questions pertaining to public opinion's ability to mold someone's figurative image, in addition to the ethics of capturing certain literal images.

At one point, Richardson's longtime assistant, Alex Bolotow, defends Richardson's racey images of her because she was "having the time of [her] life" taking them. Honestly, it's hard not to think that there's a bit of Stockholm syndrome going on here, or that she's spent the past 10 years rationalizing his work to make herself feel better, but if she says she had fun being photographed with Richardson's swantz in her mouth, then who am I to judge? Ultimately, it's safe to assume there's some truth to Richardson crossing the line from time to time with certain women the way many men do when they start thinking with their dick, but it's probably just as equally true that a lot of these models throwing accusations around are thirsty for attention. Read the full profile and judge for yourself.

I wonder how Jake’s opinion would be about this guy if Kanye publically said he despised him tho

I used tot be on board the Terry-hate-train, until I saw Terrywold in a bookstore 6 months ago. He is totally a perv, just like a lot of people, but the difference is he is not even hiding it. If you’re being photographed by this guy, you should know what you may or may not be getting yourself into BECAUSE HE IS A FAMOUS PHOTOGRAPHER AND HIS WORK IS PUBLISHED.

I know this article isn’t going to change any feminazi opinions, but I hope that he will at least be able to save face because of the whole rapey texts & vibes thing.

I honestly hope that book is still there, I’m going to cop that shit and fap to it ASAP.

Wait. Wait a fucking minute. Your argument is that because Terry Richardson doesn’t hide that he’s a pervert, therefore if you work with him, you need to understand there is a risk of getting sexually harassed or raped by the guy. So by this argument, if there’s a guy at my office who’s always angry and rants about bringing a gun to work and mow us down and then do a suicide by cop, I should expect a 10% chance that Monday morning I might end up with a bullet to the head at the water cooler?

This is stupid. Just like any work environment, you can’t just say “I’m an asshole/racist/pedophile/molester, deal with it.” and have people adjust their behaviour around you. It’s Terry Richardson who should be locking down the pervy behaviour and not inappropriately touch models. Being a famous photographer doesn’t mean you get a free pass to stick your dick anywhere you want. Models, just like anyone else, should not have to go to work dreading getting old man jizz all over their face.

We still in a recession bruh. If you want a job in 2014 you gotta accept getting old man jizz all over your face. That’s a little thing my grandfather called “ambition.”
