Sacai was founded in 1999 by Chitose Abe, who cut her teeth working under for Junya Watanabe for eight years on his collections for Commes des Garçons. Originally solely a women’s line, Sacai expanded to men's in 2009. While not a Watanabe derivative, the Sacai men’s line seems inspired by Abe’s time at Commes des Garcons—the collection features super fine knits and fabrics designed to transition between various occasions. Okay, so I think I hit all the talking points: 1. It’s made in Japan. 2. It’s made with really fucking luxe fabrics. 3. She worked under Junya. That’s all you need to know. But yeah, the clothes are pretty cool too. The outerwear is amazing, which isn’t that surprising when you consider the designer’s pedigree. Overcoats with fur lining, plaid blousons and coke white topcoats are the highlights from F/W 12. What, you don’t know if you have any occasion to wear a white coat?
